Uncle Sam Support

There are a bunch of different versions. How do I install it?

You can get Uncle Sam in three ways: for Dashboard (Mac), Widget Engine (usually Windows), or your iPod (a series of text files). After you download the version you need, double-click on the zip file, then double-click on the widget icon to open it in Dashboard or Widget Engine.

How do I change colors/options?

for Dashboard: click on the little 'i' in the bottom right corner of the widget to change the preferences.

for Widget Engine: right-click on the widget and select "Widget Preferences...".

Ah! Uncle Sam is broken!

Whenever things don't work, your best bet is to install it again.

for Dashboard: Open up your Widgets bar and open the "Widgets" widget. Click the minus icon to uninstall Uncle Sam from Dashboard. Then, download it again here: http://www.tacowidgets.com/widgets/unclesam/

for Widget Engine: Find the folder you put Uncle Sam in (usually your "My Widgets" folder in "My Documents", though it might be on your desktop), then drag it to- and then empty- the trash.

  • Note! If you start Uncle Sam and get a "Missing" logo instead of a background, right click on part of the quote or button and select "Widget Preferences". From there, choose any color to fix the problem.
